At the start of the football game there is many routines that happens before the game gets started. The first thing that happens is the captains that day meet at the center of the field with the referees to flip the coin for possession of the ball. What happens is the away team gets to call heads or tails of the coin while it is in the air. Then, the team that win the toss gets to decide if they want to kick or if they want to receive. After this, the captains shake hands and go back to the sideline and get ready for kick off. The kick- off is the start of the game. There are also kick- offs after every possession of the ball that ended in a touchdown and a extra point. There can also be a kick-off after a 3- point field goal. There are many football positions on the field. The offensive positions are Quarterback, Running back, receivers, lineman, and tight end, and full back. The Quarterbacks job is to pass the ball to the receivers, and to hand the ball to the running back to run. The Running backs job is to run the ball and to block the quarterback on passing plays. The receivers job is to catch the ball, and block for the running back on wide running plays. The lineman's job is to block the quarter and running back. The tight end is the person who either blocks like the line or goes out for a pass. The full backs job is to block the running back. The defensive positions are linebackers, defensive lineman, safeties and corner backs. The main job of the entire defense is to try to get the ball from the offense. The next step in learning football is learning the terms. Overtime is the term used when the whole game has been played and the game is tied. A PAT or point after touchdown is when a team would kick football through the goal post for a extra point after a touchdown for a total of 7 points. Another term is the end zone, which is the area of the field where if the football crosses the line on the field into the end zone it is known as a touchdown which is 6 points. One more term is defense. Defense is when a group of eleven players is in pursuit of the player or players with the ball on the other team. The other part of the players on the field is the offense. The offense is the team with the possession the ball that tries to get a touchdown. There is one more term that we haven't used which is a turnover. There are 3 types of turnovers. There is a fumble which is where a player drops the live ball onto the ground and is vulnerable to lose the ball to the other team. A Interception is when a pass is thrown into the air and the other team catches it for a turnover. The last turnover is a turnover on down which is when a team gives the ball away if they don't get 10 yards in 4 plays. Football is a game of teamwork. Everybody works together to get the job done on the field. The hardest thing for football is the day in day out practice during the football season. The way the team goes is you work together you get the win and if you don't work together you go home disappointed. The Offensive positions on the football field include Quarterbacks and running backs, Offensive lineman and Wide Receivers. The defensive positions are the Defensive lineman and linebackers, and safeties and corner backs. The corner backs cover the wide receivers while at the same time the linebackers cover the running backs and quarterbacks. This is the things a first person of football needs to know.
Football is a sport for every person if that is their interest. Football is a team that has to work together to succeed. This is the team chemistry. If there is no team chemistry then your team want be successful. The team contains a certain number of people on the field to win the game. There are eleven total people on the field during the game for one team. The rookie on a football team is someone who gets very little play time and has room to grow on and off the field. These rookies are one who are there day in, day out and get nothing out of it but a couple of bruises. Let's just say, being a rookie on the high school football team is a rough experience. I hope there is someone like me.
